Her character as Ashley Banks in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air is her most well-known. She began singing at age four. Her mother was encouraging her to take her to audition for Sesame Street. As a 6-year old, she started her acting career in Sesame's children's television show. She continued to pursue her acting career throughout New York City with many productions, including Fences which was a Broadway production, and Orfeo del Campo which was Off-Broadway's production. Seven years ago, she was the winner of Star Search. She received an overall score of 4 stars when she returned for another time.
